Wavelength - connecting visionary companies

RECONNECT

In June and September 2010, the Wavelength Connect community came together to continue learning, inspiring and helping one another!

The June event comprised of three compelling modules based around the three pillars of the Connect programme - Leadership, Inspiration, Connectivity. We invited two highly accomplished leaders back to our Leadership Sofa: Martin Narey, Chief Executive, Barnardos, and Lorraine Hegessey, former CEO, talkbackTHAMES, who talked with searing honesty about their experiences, high and low, as leaders and about what continue to learn every day.

We were also delighted to have Doug Richard, one of the nation's best in class entrepreneurs with us. A former Dragon on BBC2’s Dragon's Den, Doug is an insightful, funny, provocative and candid speaker.

In September, the focus was on some of the core skills required to be the best Leader possible. Working with three key themes, Change, Communication - Storytelling, and Enrolment, our speakers offered practical, no nonsense advice needed to deal with complexity, tell great stories, negotiate and take control of our personal ‘brands’ to develop our careers and impacts.

During the Change module, we heard from Simon Scott, Executive Coach, and Helena Feltham, Jack Wills, on the personal journey Helena had undertaken guided by Simon. Richard Sambrook, Edelman, told with brutal honesty of the very public fall from grace which forced him into changing his professional path. No-one remembers strategy but great stories are unforgettable and in our Communication module Paul Wilson of Make Believe revealed the principles of making that story great. And in Enrolment, Floyd Woodrow showed us the Stairway to Negotiation before Gerald Miller completed the day with his personal experience of the 'Each One Teach One' philosophy.
