The Business Of Social Innovation
Traditional CSR is dead. Giving out cheques. Volunteering. Painting the community centre. Nothing wrong with all of this but it is too often peripheral to the business, adds nothing in terms of innovation insight, doesn't open up the prospect of new products or services, and rarely galvanises the pride and energy of employees.
The answers to the world’s biggest social challenges will not be found by governments, charities or NGO’s alone. Increasingly big companies are creating new business models, new products and services that deliver lasting, financially viable solutions to the big problems we face. We call this corporate social innovation and we believe it’s the future of business.
We recently gathered 100 business leaders and social entrepreneurs at Jasmine Studio in Shepherds Bush at The Business of Social Innovation to hear from some of the world's leading exemplars of corporate social innovation. Their stories from the frontlines were hugely inspiring, challenging and insightful. In the words of one senior leader present: "The most inspiring and interesting business event I've been to in ages. Terrific speakers and the level of engagement was immense. Really helped me reframe what our corporate response to poverty might look like".
